So are we going to be able to download the newest release of S anytime soon?

I'm not a coder and have been running s.zip for a few weeks, testing it, playing around, and building alot of stuff and as of the 1st I cant log a mortal on, well I can but I had to change my comps clock back a month Razz

Hi -

There is no sense on prematurely releasing a code until the binary version is thoroughly tested. The purpose of this period is to give the 1.69s engine a test run to see what can be added, removed, changed, etc. - plus grants developers the opportunity to locate bugs that may have been missed. To generalize, this "waiting period" is to the benefit of those of whom will be using the 1.69s code. As the old philosophy states, "all good things come to those who wait". Wink

I don't think any of us has a problem in waiting for future releases. I think the problem that he's pointing out is that the beta release had a cut-off date peventing any mortals from logging in after May 1st 2006. While much of the testing can be done as immortals, there are many things that work best when experienced by a mortal character and that is impossible now unless we alter our computer clocks.

Perhaps a "new" version whose only change is to remove or extend this limit would be beneficial if a complete release is taking longer than expected.

I have posted the exe for beta2 in the download/beta section. This will expire 7Nov2006.

I must admit that I haven't had much time since beta 1, so a few bugs have been fixed but nothing ground breaking.

Enjoy,

- Kal

- fixed a bug where the mud can crash if you start a hotreboot then logout
during the process and noone else is logged in... why would you want to
do this other than to prove it crashes is another question Wink

Hahah - Just one of many codes to make it more FOOL-proof Wink
