Could someone tell me what the v0-v3 values do? I don't see anything in the files about this item type. Thanks.

It depends on the item type. The 'v' stands for 'value' and you can set up to 5 different values on an object; again depending on the object type (some allow you up to 3, some up to 5)

Weapons for example:

v0 - type of weapon (dagger, sword, etc)
v1 - number of dice ( for damage )
v2 - type of dice ( for damage )
v3 - attack type (thrust, slash, slice, etc)
v4 - special type (holy, flaming, shock, etc)

This is what I get for asking a question right before bed. Stupid fatigue.

I meant to say:

Heh - this is what happens when I answer a question before going to bed. After re-reading your original question, I saw what you were asking.

Dawn Output:
Vnum: 513     Type: parchment  Level: 0          Area[6]: atrium.are
Cost: 40      Weight: 0.0 lbs Condition: 100    Material: unknown
Absolute size: 0      Relative size: 50
Name: parchment blank
Created by:
Short desc: a blank parchment
Long descr: A blank parchment is here.
There are no extended descriptions.
Wear Flags:    [take hold]
Extra Flags:   [none]
Extra2 Flags:  [none]
Class Allowances: all classes
 Useby:    [all]
[v0] Unused          [0]
[v1] Blank = 0       [0]
[v2] Unsealed = 0    [0]
[v3] Language        [human]

This is a sample item from my game. As you can see, v0 is not used. v1 is asking if your parchment is a blank parchment. v2 is checking to see if your parchment is sealed. v3 is going to check to see what language you want the parchment in (human, elven, etc.)

Hope this answers your question better.

Maybe I'm asking the wrong question.

What does a parchment item do, and how does it being blank or sealed affect how it is used?

Parchments can be used for various things. A blank parchment for example can be used to write your letters on. Read 'help letter'. That will explain in fuller detail of how the letter system works. Also, if a player is a mage and has the 'scribe' skill; they can scribe a magical spell unto a black parchment turning it into a scroll.

Oh, I see now. I searched the help files for parchment but I needed to look for letter. Thanks. I figured it had something to do with scribe, though.
