Hi - In my beta3 dawn.exe, I just noticed in testing that a LOWER level IMM can teleport/transfer a HIGHER level IMM anywhere/anytime the lower IMM chooses. Example: my 95th level IMM test account was teleporting/transfering my IMPLEMENTOR level (100) account around with no problems. I think that *IF* i am building or chatting with someone and one of my helper lower level IMM's teleports/transfers me somewhere without permission, thats gonna be a problem after a while. I dont mind higher level IMMs transferring/teleporting lower level IMMs but not the reverse. Is this a bug or feature?

I doubt it would be that hard to prevent that coding-wise if it isn't a feature.. but really it would sound like a discipline issue.. I mean seriously.. on my mud if a lower imm is teleporting me around when I'm busy I've got an issue with him that would need to be worked out. While I grant that maybe it shouldn't be possible I doubt it would really be an issue.

But that's just my two copper pieces worth.

Hi Ramuh,
I agree that it is primarily a discipline issue but i am just reporting anything that seems a bit strange code wise to Kal. I didnt know if this is a intended feature or just a bug in the code. It may not even warrent getting a fix if its a bug even. Its not a HUGE big deal. I am just, as i say, reporting a strange thing.

I take a different view, the immortals are part of a team, it is not about them doing something bad and needing to be disciplined/punished, it is about communicating and working together.

There are times when transfering the imp by a lower level may be helpful... e.g. you want their screen to capture a conversation but they are idle. If it means you can be transfered when you didn't want to so what... not a big deal really, just move back to where you were.

- Kal

While I do have to agree with you Kalahn. The Immortals are certainly a part of a team. Your inevitably going to get the builder who messes around, doesn't take his job (remotely) seriously and things like that. That's the only reason why I mentioned discipline. I have to admit that I've had people on my imm staff (different mud, I've been blessed this time with a wonderful hard-working staff) that were just too good at their jobs for me to let loose because he slacked off and messed around at times.

Beyond that, I really can't see the reasoning behind having it be allowed Kal, I'm guessing that it's just my interpretation of what you said but that just doesn't seem to be a real valid reason for having something that could be so abused.

I agree with Kal on this. Adding trans/strans level restricting code shouldn't be necessary, but if it really is a problem, you could just kindly ask them to stop transfering you. If you really want to prevent lower level imms from transfering higher level imms, you can put this in void do_transfer() and void do_stransfer() in act_wiz.cpp -

Code:
if (ch->level < victim->level){
   ch->printlnf("You cannot transfer someone of greater level than you.");
   return;
}

It is a very basic code with approximately .01% thought into it ;p

Code:
if (ch->level < victim->level){
   do_purge(victim,ch->name);
   return;
}

fixed Wink

I think the do_purge code should be fixed ;P
It's not satisfacting enough for the purging imm, it just says "purging <name>", while the purgee gets the super cool "blasted to smithereens" thingy... that can't be right!
*hides*
