Alright, I'm still playing around with the server and getting used to the functionality.
I created a couple mortal characters and began to play them. I advanced one of them to level 50 and noticed that his hitpoints seemed low. I thought perhaps it was because I hadn't trained his constitution, so I advanced him back to level 1, set his constitution to 80 and advanced him again.
Once he hit 150 hitpoints, he stopped gaining hitpoints. At first, I thought that perhaps it was because he wasn't 'letgained', but as I looked through do_advance(), I saw that the command actually 'letgains' the character before advancing them...
Through a roundabout way...a -very- roundabout way that included gdb and nanny.cpp... I realized that I could edit the max_hp in 'raceedit'.
I will likely do so, but before I do I wanted to ask why the max_hp for races is set so low? Is the mud 'balanced' towards lower hps and better saves and AC? I certainly don't want to upset the balance before I've wrapped my mind around the code completely...
Thank you for being patient with a neophyte...I won't remain so for long, I hope.

| The default max hp is based on the original Dawn balance table from the DoT MUD of 10 years ago. You can set the max hp of every race to whatever you want. The primary and core reason why the Dawn engine has so many features such as classedit, raceedit, sedit, etc is so you can customize your own game and establish your own balance regulations without having to have any established background in programming. |
