Although this isn't fancy or anything, i wrote a shell script to backup your mud.

Go to the directory where your dawn folder resides. make a new one called backups (mkdir backups) Then create a file named backupscript.

Code:

#! /bin/sh
day=`date +"%Y%m%d"`
echo Shell script backing up dawn directory...
tar --create --file=$day.tgz dawn
echo Script moving it to backups directory...
mv $day.tgz backups
echo Done! Please delete old backups.

to run it, type ./backupscript
Do this every week, delete the old ones as you need the hard drive space. Make sure to download the backups off the server too. Keep a copy on your computer and another copy on the other hard drive on your computer and a copy on a non-windows computer (cause they like to have their hard drives reformatted every other month *boggles* Razz)

If you wanted, you could make a cron tab to do it, so it would be automatic, but then you'd need to delete the old ones automatically too.
